The Bwyd Da Môn community hub is centred on a not-for-profit shop, which re-distributes produce from a range of supermarkets and other food producers. The shop is a membership-based food club.
Excess food that would otherwise have gone to landfill is collected from local food suppliers. This community hub also develops ideas and activities that encourage and support the health and well being of people on Anglesey.
Each year millions of tonnes of food worth billions of pounds are sent to landfill. This has a huge environmental impact and also means the loss of food that could be easily repurposed and distributed to the community, giving people access to low cost and good quality food that would otherwise be wasted. Bwyd Da Môn has been established to address this issue on Anglesey.
